An Open Letter to Digg About Submissions

Dear Digg,

Let's be honest, we all do it, we think that we've found something that is front page material only to find that when we press submit someone had just submitted a nearly identical story from another site. Then, out of sheer frustration, we do one of two things. We either continue to swear that our story is unique and submit the story anyway or bury or don't digg the other story because someone has beaten us to the punch. It must be because of our massive egos, but it's keeping relevant articles from leaving their infancy. I know they are relevant because so many people are submitting the same article.

Regardless, something has to change and we all know that it's not going to be on the user's end. Digg, this is your opportunity to show us your brilliance. Upgrade the algorithm so that this problem doesn't occur from now on. Help us get relevant information to the front page!

I am not a digg programmer, nor do I have any solutions for this problem. I am merely suggesting that this is something that should be investigated. I know the digg community is creative and maybe in the comments section users will come up with possible solutions. Whatever the case, help us and help us now.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

-A Loyal Digger
